Championship Finals (Quarter-Finals)
After a gripping final session Neil was
defeated 13-12 by world #13 Graeme Dott. Neil trailed
12-8, but managed to draw level at 12-12 before losing
the final frame.
(22 April 2006): World Championship Finals
Neil becomes the first Australian in 23 years to make the quarter-finals
of the World Championship. A 102 break in the winning
frame sealed a 13-9 victory over world #11 Stephen
Lee.
(18 April 2006): World
Championship Finals
Neil advanced to the Last 16 of the world
title for the first time with a 10-5 victory over
Paul Hunter in the Last 32.
(20 March 2006): China Open Finals
Neil was defeated 5-4 by world #6 Ken Doherty in the Last 32
round of the China Open.

Championship Qualifying
In his qualifying round for the World Championship,
Neil defeated Gerard Greene 10-6 to advance to the
Last 32.
(27 February 2006): Welsh Open Finals
Despite leading 3-0, Neil was defeated in the first round of
the Welsh Open Finals 5-3 by Mark Selby.

Malta Cup Finals
Neil's Malta Cup run was brought to an end
by seven-times world champion and current world #2
Stephen Hendry, who achieved a record breaking 4
centuries on his way to a 5-1 victory.
(15 December 2005): UK Championship Finals
In his fourth ranking Quarter Finals
appearance, Neil's UK Championship campaign was ended
by Ding Junhui who defeated Neil 9-5.

UK Championship Finals
Neil edged past current world champion Shaun
Murphy in a thrilling 9-8 result to advance to the
Quarter Finals of the UK Championship for the first
time, where he hopes to continue his winning form.

2005): UK Championship Finals
Neil advanced to the Last 16 round
of the UK Championship for the first time, by defeating
Stephen Lee 9-4 in their Last 32 encounter. Neil
now meets either Shaun Murphy or Nigel Bond.

UK Championship Finals
Neil defeated Rory McLeod 9-8 in a tightly
contested Last 48 match to advance to the next round
of the UK Championship. Neil now meets world #10
Stephen Lee in the Last 32.
(19 November 2005): China Open Qualifying
Neil defeated Stuart Pettman 5-1 in his single qualifying match
for the China Open. In his first appearance at the
finals of the China event, Neil will meet world #6
Ken Doherty in the Last 32.
(11 November 2005):
Malta Cup Qualifying
Neil survived a marathon encounter against
Dave Harold in the Last 48 round of the Malta Cup
qualifiers, to reach his third consecutive Malta
Cup Finals. Despite being down 0-3 and later 1-4,
Neil lifted to win the match 5-4. Neil now meets
defending Malta Cup champion and world #2 Stephen
Hendry in the Last 32 in January.
(11 October 2005): Grand Prix Finals
Despite a break of 122 in the second frame, Neil was defeated
5-1 by Andrew Norman in the Last 64 round of the
Finals of the Grand Prix, the first ranking tournament
for the season.
(21 August 2005): Northern
Ireland Trophy
Neil's Northern Ireland Trophy run came to a end when he was defeated in the
semi-final 6-4 by Matthew Stevens.
(20 August 2005): Northern Ireland Trophy
Neil
had to overcome the reigning World Champion to reach
his first semi-final as a professional. In his quarter
final against Shaun Murphy, Neil lost the first 3
frames and was down 43-0 in the 4th frame, before
potting a single ball. His spirited comeback with
breaks of 57, 59, 69 and 85 levelled the match at
4-4, before a decisive long red gave him the opportunity
to take the deciding frame. Neil now meets Matthew
Stevens for the first time, in the semi finals.
(19 August 2005): Northern
Ireland Trophy
Neil has advanced to the quarter-finals of the
Northern Ireland Trophy with a 4-2 victory over
Jimmy White. In the semi-finals Neil will
play World Champion Shaun Murphy.

Neil has begun his Main Tour season with
a 4-0 victory over Ian McCulloch in the wildcard
round of the Northern Ireland Trophy, compiling breaks
of 80, 56, and 73. Neil now meets Jimmy White in
the Last 16.

Ireland Trophy
Neil has been selected as one of 4 wildcards to compete in the season-opening
Northern Ireland Trophy invitational event to be staged in Belfast in August.
(14 July 2005): World Games, Germany
Neil will represent
Australia later this month in the Snooker competition
of the world's largest multi-sport event of 2005.
More than 3,500 athletes from 97 countries will compete
in 40 non-Olympic sporting disciplines at the World
Games in Duisburg, Germany.
